New Century Sport Center Concept Design

Master Plan
The New Century Sport Centre was designed for the fifth Chinese city games. The theme was “Human, Ecology, Culture, and High-tech.” The existing mountain was enhanced. Water was introduced to create a natural and balanced environment. “Fengshui” and “Yin-Yang” principles were used to seamlessly combine the different “Ying” and “Yang” space together. Stadiums were located around the concentric circles. The center axis was used to create open and closed spaces to invoke an upwards athletic spirit.
This was a group work when I worked in Changsha Planning & Design Institute CO., LTD. I was involved in concept design and I independently finished the northeast part of master plan. This design won first prize in a national competition. Major buildings suggested in our masterplan were built before 2005.
